Who are we?
Durham University Surgical Society is a student led, academic society which focuses on the discipline of surgery.
Surgery is one of many competitive disciplines in the field of medicine, which is why here at Durham we provide a range of lectures, practical skills and workshops in order to enhance your passion for surgery and perfect a portfolio essential for succeeding in such a career.

Lecture Sessions
Each term we play host to a range of world renowned surgeons, who share their experiences, a well as giving members advice on how to follow their dreams into surgery.
Anatomy Sessions
No surgeon would be complete without a comprehensive anatomical knowledge. Our peer led Anatomy sessions are ideal, ensuring you know the difference, between your pyramidalis and your pectoralis.
Practical Sessions
We bring a wide range of practical opportunities from suturing workshops, to surgery visits. Such experiences which will prove invaluable upon graduation from medical school.
