A Career in Surgery....

Medical School - 5/6 years studying medicine.

 

Foundation Training - 2 years junior doctor post in hospital.

 

Core Surgical Training - 2 years working in a range of surgical specialties, registering with the GMC.

 

Specialty Training - 6 years approximately, training in a specific surgical specialty.

 

Senior Position - Further training, and gaining a Consultant post or fellowship.
